This early morning traditional service, held in Spell Chapel, is very simple in its format and reflects the worship traditions of an earlier time in Methodism. The music sung is from the Cokesbury hymnal. On the first Sunday of each month, Holy Communion is observed.
8:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Special music, hymn singing, prayers and preaching are at the center of this traditional weekly worship experience. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and is normally administered by intinction (dipping the bread in the cup). Children’s Church (JAM) is available for children in kindergarten through second grade.
11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary
This is our most formal service. The Chancel Choir, our most advanced adult choir, sings every Sunday morning in this service, except for several weeks in the months of July and August. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and is normally administered by intinction (dipping the bread in the cup).
8:45 Word and Table
The Word and Table worship service is an ancient, future worship service designed to place the ancient traditions of the church in a contemporary setting. Worshipers are drawn to God through a multi-sensory worship service enacted by a community of people of all ages and at varying points in their spiritual journey.
This service incorporates prayer, praise, thanksgiving, offering, confession and proclamation to enact the story of God using all of the senses. Not only do we hear the Word of God proclaimed, we also see it come alive through dialogue and visual representation. We learn about the grace of God and what it means to be the body of Christ, and we make that learning a reality each week as we celebrate Holy Communion. We sing God’s praise in a variety of ways using lots of voices and many different instruments. Children’s Church (JAM) is available for children in kindergarten through second grade.
We hope you’ll feel welcome here! Bethany UMC is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere. We strive to be an inviting church – in fact, 70 percent of the people who come to Bethany to worship do so because a member of the Bethany family has invited them. We extend a personal invitation for you to worship with us each Sunday. We offer four worship services, Sunday School for all ages and child care. Hope to see you soon!
We offer Sunday School for all ages! Children ages two and older and invited to attend Sunday School at 10 a.m. There are also classes for school-aged children, middle school and high school students and adults.
There is a place for every child at Bethany! Here are the child care options available on Sunday morning:
- Nursery: Bethany United Methodist Church provides care for children from infancy up to four years old. The nursery is located in the Child Development Center area of the church. Child care if offered during the 8:45 and 11:15 a.m. worship services as well as during the Sunday School hour.
- Sunday School: Sunday School is offered at 10 a.m. for children beginning at age two. Age-appropriate activities, lessons and snacks are offered.
- Children’s Church: Children are always invited to attend worship with you! We offered Children’s Church during the 8:45 a.m. worship hour. Children in kindergarten through second grade are dismissed right before the sermon and are encouraged to join us for an age-appropriate message while you remain in worship.
