What
can you expect when you visit Bethany on a Sunday morning?
First, you can
expect to feel welcome! Bethany UMC is known for its warm,
welcoming atmosphere. We support and live by the
United Methodist Church’s
philosophy that UMC churches should have “Open Hearts, Open
Minds and Open Doors.”
Bethany also
strives to be an inviting church
– in fact, 70 percent of the people who come to Bethany to
worship do so because a member of the Bethany family has
invited them. We extend a personal invitation to you. Come,
worship with us!
Which worship service should I
attend?
Bethany has three
Sunday morning worship services.
We also have a Saturday evening
worship service. Our worship services are based on the
beliefs of the
United Methodist Church.
Where
do I go for worship and Sunday School?
When you arrive at
Bethany UMC, you will see a sanctuary on either end of the
church building. Spell Chapel is the smaller of the two
sanctuaries and is the site of the 8 a.m. worship service each
Sunday. The main sanctuary is the larger sanctuary, where the
8:45 and 11:15 a.m. worship services are held. For directions
to each of the sanctuaries, consult the
Bethany UMC Facilities Map.
Sunday School classes
for adults are held in the Sunday School wing. (See the
Bethany UMC Facilities Map.)
You are welcome to attend any of these classes.
What’s available for my
children?
Bethany UMC has a
nursery for children up to
four years old, located in the Child Development Center area
of the church. (See the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.) The nursery is open 15 minutes
prior to church services, so you can drop off your children
before you attend worship. The nursery is also open during the
Sunday School hour.
Our primary
family worship service is
at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings. This service is held in our main
sanctuary. From
September through May, children between the ages of five and
seven may leave the sanctuary, at a designated time, to attend Children’s Church.
They are escorted by Children's Church leaders to room 118
for a worship service geared
toward this age group. Children's Church includes music and lessons that are fun and
informative for five, six and seven year olds. Children's
Church is also offered for youngsters attending our 11:15
a.m. service. After the 8:45 and 11:15 a.m. services, parents should pick up their
children from room 118. (See the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.)
Bethany also has
Sunday School
classes for children of all ages.
