Meeting Special Needs
Hearing Aid Devices | Elevator | Parking | Building Entrances | Finding Spell Chapel and Main Sanctuary

Bethany United Methodist Church is committed to removing all barriers to worship and church programs.

Hearing Aid Devices
Bethany also provides amplified volume headsets for hearing impaired members of our congregation. This system supplements our existing sound system to provide clear and intelligible audio to those who need help in hearing. For those members and visitors needing help in hearing, ask the ushers for a headset.

Elevator
The elevator is located by the lobby area at the portico entrance in the rear of the church. If you are visiting Bethany to worship with us or have a class or meeting in a second floor classroom, you will want to take the elevator to the second floor.

Parking
Handicapped parking spaces are available in the side and back parking lots as well as in front of the church complex. To see where each of these parking lots is located, click on the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.

Seven handicapped spaces are available in the parking lot behind the main sanctuary. These parking spots are closest to the portico entryway, which is handicapped accessible and near the elevator.

Two handicapped parking spaces are also available in the parking lot beside the gym and Spell Chapel (our smaller sanctuary). Three handicapped parking spaces and three visitor parking spaces are also available in the lot beside the main (larger) sanctuary.

On weekdays, two handicapped spaces are available in the front parking lot, closest to the entrance to the church’s business office.

Building Entrances
Bethany UMC has a drop off area under the portico behind the large sanctuary. (See the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.) This entryway is handicapped accessible.

As you enter the double doors, you will come into a lobby area with a set of stairs and a sitting area to your left. Directly across the hallway from the sitting area is the elevator. If you are visiting Bethany to worship with us, take the elevator to the second floor. You can get to both Spell Chapel and our main sanctuary from the second floor. If you are visiting Bethany for a class or meeting, consult the list of activities posted on the bulletin board immediately across from the portico entrance to determine where your class or meeting is being held. Directional signs are posted on walls throughout the church building.

There are also handicapped accessible entrances from the Spell Chapel/gym side of the building. You may enter through any of three sets of double doors which open into our Large Fellowship Hall or a set of double doors opening into a hallway. (See the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.)

If you enter through the Large Fellowship Hall, you will find yourself in a spacious gathering room. Note the three doorways along the right side of the room. Take any of these exits, which lead to the hallway. Turn left and proceed to the end of the hall, where you will see a set of stairs and a sitting area. On your right, across from the sitting area is an elevator. If you are visiting Bethany to worship, take this elevator to the second floor, from which you can access both Spell Chapel and our main sanctuary. If you are visiting Bethany for a class or meeting, consult the list of activities posted on the bulletin board immediately across from the portico entrance to determine where you class or meeting is being held. Directional signs are posted on walls throughout the church building.

If you park in the front parking lot, you will also be near a handicapped-accessible entrance. (See the Bethany UMC Facilities Map.) Take the sidewalk in the direction of our larger sanctuary. Turn left at…. Turn left again under the covered walkway, and the door will be a few yards in front of you. If you have business with the church, you will want to visit the business office, which will be on your left. If you are visiting Bethany to worship, turn right and take the hallway until you see the elevator on your left. Both Spell Chapel and our main sanctuary are handicapped accessible from the second floor. If you are visiting Bethany for a class or meeting, consult the list of activities posted on the bulletin board immediately across from the portico entrance to determine where you class or meeting is being held. Directional signs are posted on walls throughout the church building.

Finding Spell Chapel and the Main Sanctuary
Both Spell Chapel and Bethany’s large sanctuary are handicapped accessible from the second floor.

To worship with us at our 8 a.m. service, take the elevator to the second floor and turn left. Immediately turn left again, and you will be in a hallway. Travel to the end of the hallway and turn left. The entrance to Spell Chapel will be directly in front of you.
