Workshops Set to Make Tea Room Gift Shop Items

The Autumn Tea Room and Gift Shop are only a few months away, and we still have a lot of work to do! A series of six workshops are scheduled the week of June 19-23 to create items to be sold at the Gift Shop. Workshops will be offered daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please plan to attend at least one workshop – or, better yet, attend one each day! Your help is needed! Scheduled workshops are:

  • Purses: We have several different patterns available. Bring your sewing machine.

  • Cards: Some will be stamped, others using a technique to be explained.

  • Christmas Ornaments: A hot glue gun will be needed to make angels. Bring your sewing machine to work on the “cathedral windows.” We have some Christmas fabric, but bring yours, too. We may need it.

  • Stupid Sock Creatures: Bring a pair of socks for each “creature” you plan to make. The crazier, wilder socks make the most interesting “creatures.” Also, the longer the socks, the better. Bring your sewing machine.

  • Jewelry: Everything will be provided.

  • Felt dolls: Bring your scissors, needle and thimble.

Please sign up for the workshop(s) of your choice by calling the church at 873-1230 or completing the on-line registration form. It’s very important to register for the workshop(s) you want to attend, so we will have the right amount of supplies available.

One of the way Christians grow is through service. Our Lord said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” but you don’t have to go on a mission trip to serve. You can do so right here at Bethany United Methodist Church. There is a place at Bethany for every one of our members to serve. Here are some areas with an urgent need for volunteers:

Day Camp, VBS Helpers Needed!

Volunteers are still needed for Day Camp and Vacation Bible School. Day Camp will be held June 19-23, and VBS will be the week of July 10-14. If you will help, please contact Minister of Education Ruth Ann Ivey (873-1230). Nursery and child care will be available for the younger children of adult volunteers.
