The Exodus

Led by Martha Bouknight

This is a six-week journey through the story of how God freed his people from Egyptian slavery and bound them to himself by a covenant. When the Chosen People failed to keep God’s laws, we are given an insight into how God’s grace reacted to a broken covenant. Our journey will involve made-for-television videotape reenactments, Bible readings, and group discussions. All of us who share the greater Exodus from the world of sin brought about by our Lord Jesus Christ will be able to appreciate the opportunities, achievements, and failures of the original Exodus. Come join us as we observe the Hebrews’ miraculous escape from Egypt, their wilderness wanderings, their encounter with God at Mount Sinai, and their approach to the Promised Land.

Crown Ministries: Discovering God’s Way of Handling Money

Led by Christie & Jason Baucom

This is an introductory course with short video segments followed by discussion. Come and learn what the Bible has to say about handling money. There are more than 2,350 verses in the Bible that address everything you need to know about handling money. The Bible is, indeed, a blueprint for managing your finances.

Not only is “Discovering God’s Way of Handling Money” practical, but in it you will learn the profound impact that managing your money has on your relationship with God. What does the Bible say about borrowing and lending money? How do you evaluate financial counsel from others? Is honesty always the best policy? How can I know when to give to others? How are money and being a godly employee related to each other?

Transitions: The Fifth Commandment —
Honoring Our Parents and Families

Facilitated by Beverly Rogers

As we and our families grow older, scripture reminds us that God is with us at all stages of our lives. Unfortunately, we don’t always know how to claim that promise in our own lives and share it with those we love. The Care Team is sponsoring this six-session class conducted by Palmetto Hospice and Aging in Place (a resource for helping elderly persons remain safely in their home environments).

The first four weeks will be led by Pat Browder of Palmetto Hospice. Topics include learning to pass your faith and values to future generations; ministering to those facing serious illness; living wills and health care power of attorney; and dispelling myths and qualifying for services.

Discussion in weeks five and six will center on not having to move from one’s residence in order to secure support services in response to changing needs that come with aging. The class will also look at resources that help seniors plan for independence, comfort and safety as they age in place. Week five will be led by Paul and Barbara Franklin of Franklin Associates. They will discuss aging in place, financial issues and health costs. Week six will be led by A.R. “Spike” Roberts and Kevin Dixon, who will look at aging in place, Medicare, Medicaid, the VA and livable homes.
