Nursery:
Bethany UMC has a nursery for children up to four years old.
The nursery for young infants is located in room 115A; the
nursery for children who are crawling is in room 115B; and
the nursery for toddlers is in room 109. (See the Bethany UMC
Facilities Map.) Three rooms are used for nursery
care: an infant room, a toddler room and a room for four and
five year old children.
The nursery
is open 15 minutes prior to church services and is also open
during the Sunday School hour, the Wednesday evening Bethany
Bash, the Friday morning Women’s Bible Study and for special
events and worship services.
Bethany has developed nursery
policies and guidelines to ensure the safety of the nursery
and the health of each child who uses the nursery. These
policies involve signing your child in at
the nursery, picking up your child,
items to bring to the nursery,
preventing illness and
nursery volunteer standards.
Signing Your Child in at the Nursery:
Each of room in the nursery has a sign-in sheet on which
parents should write the following information: your child’s
name, the worship service or activity you will be attending at
Bethany and where you will be (for example, the main sanctuary
or your Sunday School classroom). When you sign in your
child, you will be given a tag.
Please inform the nursery staff if your child has any
special concerns or needs.
Picking Up Your Child:
Please pick up your children immediately following the service
or event you have attended. You must have your child's tag
to pick up your child.
Children will be released to the parent or guardian only.
Please do not send an older sibling to pick up your child.
Items to Bring to the Nursery:
Infants and toddlers should each have a diaper bag equipped
with the following supplies:
-
Two to three
disposable diapers
-
A bib and enough
bottles for the baby’s stay in the nursery. Don’t forget to
label these with your child’s name.
-
A leak-proof
cup, if your child does not take a bottle. Label this, too,
please.
-
A pacifier or
other comfort item
-
A complete
change of clothing
Two- and three-year olds should bring their comfort items
and any necessary supplies. For example, if your child is not
potty-trained, please bring two or three disposable diapers.
If your child is in potty training and/or in pull-ups, please
be sure to bring a change of clothes and extra pull-ups.
Diaper bags, bottles and
pacifiers should be all be marked with your child’s name. If
you don’t want to mark directly on an object, please put your
child’s name, in waterproof ink, on a piece of masking tape or
adhesive tape and attach the tape to the diaper bag or bottle.
Please label everything.
Preventing
Illness and Disease:
Bethany UMC strives to have a well-child nursery. Please don’t
bring any child whom you know is not feeling well or might be
sick. A sick child can infect other children in the nursery.
If your child shows signs of unusual fatigue or irritability,
is coughing or sneezing, has a runny nose or eyes, fever,
vomiting or diarrhea, thick yellow or green nasal discharge,
or rash, please do not bring your child to the Bethany
nursery.
NOTE: No medication will be
administered to any child while in the nursery.
Nursery
Volunteers:
Parent volunteers are always welcome in the nursery at
Bethany. To reassure parents that the nursery is a safe and
nurturing environment, we encourage parents to volunteer their
time at least once a quarter. If you would like to volunteer,
stop by the nursery, e-mail the
Nursery Coordinator
or call the church office.
